Who has his first cold?

This sweet little boy:

And Aiden didn't get it from daycare. Nope, the one time I thought he was getting sick at daycare (four weeks ago), it turns out he was teething. The poor kid actually got it from me. He made it through the entire week in good health (while I was a disgusting, feeling terrible mess), and I thought maybe all the antibodies were going to save him. But yesterday the runny nose started and he is now sounding Darth Vader-esque.
We were planning on starting solids this weekend, but we may just be sleeping instead.....

Big city, Bright lights

Really we only spent one day in the city, and it was pretty much during daylight hours. (oh - except for the part where just the gals stayed behind to see an AWESOME Broadway performance of The Lion King.) The babies did a fabulous job. I say babies because our dear friends Josh, Lauren and Miss Lylah (aka Aiden's future bride) surprised Ryan by making the trip up to NY to celebrate his birthday. When Ryan saw Josh at the airport, he stared at him with a very confused look and asked 'what are YOU doing here?' Hilarious.
We showed the Worleys the sights and sounds of the Big City on Thursday when we flew in. Aiden and Lylah were complete troopers and pretty much lived in their carriers (ate, slept, observed...and all other fun baby activities) while we were in the city.
(Getting ready to board the plane....with no idea how good of friends him and Bjorn are about to become.)

(Josh and Ryan just missed the cut for the show...)

(The babies may or may not have matching outfits that they wore.)

Friday we hung at the house and surprised Ryan (again) with a party (because what's a 30th birthday without a party, right?). Ryan's sister and mom orchestrated the majority of the details and it never would have happened without them so props to those gals. Love and appreciate you SO much!
In preparation for the party, Aiden got his first haircut. (small tear) I held off as loooong as I could, but the poor kid had hair all over the place and it wouldn't stay out of his eyes....so fabulous Aunt Jackie took the scissors to it. It was a sweet haircut, but it still made him look more grown up, just like I didn't want. I shouldn't worry too much though. It's been a little over a week, and I think it's grown about an inch.
(first snip!)

(pretty sure that's the same length of hair I lose when I get a trim)

(big boy haircut)

(showing off his new 'do)

Saturday was Aiden's first Yankees game (and mine and Ryan's first game in the new stadium). This is the part of the trip Ryan was most excited for - taking his son to his first game. :) Again, the babies were awesome....very adaptable - so mommies and daddies could enjoy the day.

(Aiden and Lylah were sporting their game faces...ready for some serious cheering.)

Sunday we said our goodbyes and came back home. It was a FABULOUS trip, and Ryan was surprised every step of the way, which made me very happy. (There were so many time I was SURE he was on to different aspects of the trip.) Thanks to everyone who made this a wonderful, memorable celebration!
I'll leave this post on this note - In honor of Daddy's birthday, Aiden learned another new trick. (He learned how to do this while passing time on the subway in the city.) That kid...always got something new up his sleeve!

Go Yanks!

To celebrate Ryan's 30th birthday, I surprised him with tickets to this weekend's Yankees game...in NY. Ryan hasn't been to the new stadium since it opened in 2009 so I figured it was about time we get up there. The thing Ryan is most excited about? Taking his son to his first Yankees game. :)

If you are super lucky, I will get a post up Sunday night when we get back. But I'm usually not an overachiever like that so don't get your hopes up. To keep you occupied in the mean time, here are a few pictures and videos.

This first one is called, 'My hair is so crazy it even surprises me' by Aiden James Schweizer.

This next one is just a cute towel pic. We never have a camera around at bath time so this is actually his first photo in the nude (properly covered, of course).

Next up is a video....this is actually not so entertaining for anyone who's not Aiden's parents. But, they may check the blog a time or two when they are at work missing him so it seemed worth posting. I won't waste too much space explaining how he does this adorable thing where he sucks on his bottom lip while sleeping so I decided to capture it on video the other day.

This last video contains slight nudity (reoccurring theme!), but A's new trick is pretty fun so I had to share. Just keep your eyes on the bebe.

Five what?

Oh right, five months. That's how old Aiden turned on Monday. Should have wished the kid a happy five months in my last post.
As a gift that I know Aiden thoroughly appreciates, I bought a scale so that we can weigh Aiden at home. I know he appreciates this gift because for the past 4 months I've drug him to the doctor, undressed him and put him on a scale there. (To be fair, he had appointments for shots at 2 and 4 months.) The thing is, I have these books that have a place to write in Aiden's height and weight. The type A in me wants to know his exact height and weight on the 3rd of every month....but this whole back to work thing is shaking me out of that a little. Since I can't make it to the doc during normal hours for weigh-ins, I figured out a way to do them at home.
So that's the long-winded way of saying that Aiden weighed 14.5lbs by this mornings calculations. We also tried to figure out his length, but it ranged from 24-27 inches depending on Aiden's positioning. Best guess is 26.5 inches. We have our next doc appointment at 6 months, at which point I'm sure I will find out my best guess missed the broad side of the barn.
Until then, we can enjoy pics with Buddy. (Note: these are taken just after bath time when the 'fro is in full effect and the toes pictures pretty much perfectly describes our child these days.)

All I Want For Christmas...

You know the tune....'All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth...' Well that is the tune Aiden was singing last week because his bottom front two teeth appeared over the weekend!
We celebrated Ryan's 30th birthday Kansas style, and on Friday's drive up Aiden was chewing on my fingers (putting all things he sees in his mouth has yet to become a favorite past time). That's when I felt one little baby tooth. The next day my sis-in-law commented that it felt like both of them were coming in. To which I responded, 'no it's just the bottom right,' and stuck my finger in Aiden's mouth....and then followed up with, 'it IS both of them! that second one showed up over night!' Turns out it's not uncommon for  them to come in pairs, and I just had no idea.
We had a bit of a fuss bucket on our hands but nothing really bad. What we really had was a drool bucket. I think I've called him that before, but that term was uncalled for then. I didn't truly understand 'drool bucket' until I saw pools of saliva sitting on top of A's bib. Yup, so much drool the bib couldn't even handle it. Since I'm the kid's mother I can say it....it was disgusting. But that's part of this mom gig....loving the kiddo despite his messes.
So to the loves in my life - happy teething and happy 30th! (they'll know which line is meant for them)
